“We understand there’s a lot of waste going on in Washington,” says New York Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R.), addressing a group of 50 or 60 people who’d volunteered on a Saturday morning to help get out the vote in Tuesday’s special election. “They’ve taken our money and they’re going on a shopping spree.” That’s the sort of thing you expect to hear from a Republican politician. But Tedisco goes on: “Wall Street has done the same. We’re not only going to stand up to Washington and its waste, we’re going to stand up to Wall Street and its greed!” This is the sound of a Republican trying to ride the backlash against Wall Street all the way to Congress. It is obvious from every speech he gives, every ad he runs, every press release his campaign puts out. Tedisco never forgets to remind his audience that his opponent is a venture capitalist. His final tour of the district’s ten counties is called “Miles for the Middle Class.” (snip)

The Democratic candidate, Scott Murphy, is a wealthy and well-groomed capitalist who sat on corporate boards, approved bonuses for executives, and invested in India,…(snip)The Republican is a career politician, a state assemblyman, who talks about his time fighting the system in Albany on behalf of the little guy — most notably, fighting Eliot Spitzer over the issue of drivers’ licenses for illegal aliens. He speaks like a pit bull, firing up his crowds with populist invective against corporations. “We’re not going to rubber-stamp billions of dollars going out the door, with caveats in it that says a company like AIG can spend $165 million of our hard-earned money to give those bonuses to the same executives that destroyed this economy and your 401(k),” Tedisco shouts, to cheers from a friendly crowd far more fired-up than the one Murphy addressed. “I’m not going to settle for that. I’m going to stand up against that when I get out to Washington.” Tedisco excoriates not just AIG but also IBM, which employs thousand of workers in the Hudson region.(snip) New York has only three Republican congressmen today — out of 29. “I think there has been a history of disgruntlement among Republicans here,” said John Tkazyik, the Republican mayor of Poughkeepsie (just outside the 20th district), who made the 15-minute drive here to help rally Tedisco’s volunteers. “But the way things are going now, with all of this money being spent, people are worried. Republicans are very motivated, and they’re gearing up here.” (snip) If Tedisco wins, RNC Chairman Michael Steele — who has made this race a personal priority — will have eased early fears about his competence.(snip) If Murphy prevails, Democrats will claim it as a ratification of President Obama’s entire agenda — deficit spending, energy taxes, and all. Anarchists return to Times Square Recruitment Station

March 20, 2009- A familiar band of Anti-War Leftists were at the Times Square Recruitment Station and they had the usual demands only an anarchist could love. Happily, our Eagles were back  and the anarchists were kept far,FAR away from the recruitment Station  (as video and pictures will reveal) Great fun watching the Leftists  as they preached and shouted to THEMSELVES.

• deploy nuclear carriers with enough firepower to annihilate any country in the Mideast;
• support the Israeli siege on Gaza;
• keep in place the “secret rendition” program which Bush used to torture detainees;
• keep the government spying on citizens and continue Bush’s “state secrets” justification;
• increase the U.S. military by 92,000 troops, sending more to die for empire;
• refuse to investigate & prosecute the war and torture crimes of the Bush regime.

The election of the first black president is effectively re-branding preemptive and illegal wars of aggression to make us feel good about them, enlisting us to “serve and sacrifice” for horrors we have no good reason to support.

The U.S. war on Afghanistan is an unjust war of aggression—the supreme war crime, waged not to bring democracy and liberation to the Afghan people, but to control Afghanistan with the goal of permanent domination of the Middle East.

But, we don’t have to go along! It’s immoral to “wait and see” or hope for the best from Obama.If you care about humanity, get in the streets to send a message to the world that there are millions of us who don’t want these crimes carried out. It’s time now to take action & make our demands visible everywhere.

Stop fooling around, nothing was ever accomplished worth a damn by hoping for someone to do the work for you.”

To let them know that the promise of money for college, or job training is not worth selling your soul to a Country that wants you to kill and be killed for the purpose of power and greed.
It is up to us to speak truth to power, to join together and push back against the military industrial complex before it really becomes too late!”

Anarchists surround Times Square Recruitment Station (3-18-09)

What would YOU do if you knew exactly when a bunch  of anti-American, anti-troop Leftists  were planning  to block the entrance to the Recruiting Station, pretending to be kind ol’ Grannies and calling it a Crime Scene!

Claiming  they really  “Support” our Troops?

Would you ignore it? Think it doesn’t matter?

Today, three of our patriots stood up to these anarchists. (many of these were the same Leftists who  marched against Israel the day before)

Proudly our Patriots  stood in front of the Times Square Recruiting Station

While our New York Police, did basically NOTHING but ‘whine’ as the commie-tools wrapped police-tape around the whole Recruitment Station

You’ll see in the videos and the pictures how the Leftists creep closer and closer to the entrance until our Patriots were flat against the building;

We were boxed-in by the tape and our enlisted men couldn’t enter  the building when finally these vile anarchists blocked the door at about 2 PM (this all  started at Noon). It took our yelling at the police and demanding that they do something before they would notice what had happened. They were  a bit busy chatting each other up…just hanging out til we yelled that the leftards were  blocking the door.

“Are you going to do NOTHING?!” Finally got them to move…

AND, that also got the grannies what they wanted … which was about 6 of them were arrested. They love the press. That why they were there!

Then there were the usual accusations towards us like ” snitch”? (for yelling at the police)and  Fascist…whatever. 

The police demanded that our Patriots  leave the area (one of our guys broke the tape that the leftards had wrapped around themselves in front of the door) and, of course, they tried to get us  to stop taking pictures.

The police themselves took plenty of video and  as usual, the hate-America crowd took tons of video and pictures and interviewed themselves A LOT!

It’s time for us to demand that the police stop looking the other way. There were so many police, suits, captains all standing around as the Leftists crept closer and closer to the door. And even though some officers made gestures  at controlling them, it was to no avail. No matter what they told the Leftists …like… you can’t do that with that tape, etc….. the Lefties just kept wrapping and wrapping tape…

They continued wrapping tape unobstructed and we KNOW our Patriots would have been stopped and removed from the area if we had tried a comparable action while protecting the Recruitment Station!

It’s time to re-group! It’s not enough to stand around  with our flags (we just make the leftards  look patriotic). We can’t yell at them (does no good any way) cause the cops would move us far…far away….

We need to EDUCATE the public. Flyers. Conversation! One young Marine in front of the Recruitment Station had to listen forever (politely) to a ‘grannie”  while she pleaded with him to acknowledge how wrong it was for him to go to high schools etc…that he was supporting killing…

Why should he have to deal with that? And the public passing by  only gets the LEFTY flyers…

We should be out there walking around with flyers and talking to the public (politely) not the Leftards.

Anti-Israel protest returns to the Waldorf-Astoria (video and pictures)

The Anti-Israel Leftists returned to the Waldorf Astoria to protest AGAIN the existence of Israel.

They don’t actually need any reason, but NJSolidarity, Al-Awda NY. JEWS SAY NO! and the Neturei Karta stood outside the Waldorf on St. Paddy’s Day with shouts of “From The River To The Sea”  while the  2009 ANNUAL NEW YORK GALA DINNER OF THE FRIENDS OF THE ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES took place inside the Waldorf. One small pleasure was seeing they had a a small turnout. Guess they couldn’t pay any extras to bail on St. Paddy’s day… so…as the pictures and videos will show….the usual die-hards were on hand. This year they were not permitted to blast their obnoxious,tedious rants from in front of the hotel. One little  “perk ‘ … we were able to observe a new ploy, as  the Jews Say No handed out their cards they decided to just plain LIE to the passers-by. They were telling them they were pro-Israel!

During a thoughtful, revealing interview with the Boston Globe’s Jeff Jacoby (published March 8, 2009), Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders clearly unnerved the mainstream conservative journalist with this frank characterization of Islam:

I have nothing against the people. I don’t hate Muslims. But Islam is a totalitarian ideology. It rules every aspect of life – economics, family law, whatever. It has religious symbols, it has a God, it has a book – but it’s not a religion. It can be compared with totalitarian ideologies like Communism or fascism. There is no country where Islam is dominant where you have a real democracy, a real separation between church and state. Islam is totally contrary to our values.

On March 1^st, I participated in the JCPA annual plenum in Washington, DC in a debate/dialogue with Ken Jacobson of the Anti-Defamation League and Jeremy Ben-Ami of J Street entitled “How Big a Tent for Pro-Israel Advocacy?”

Jeremy Ben Ami of J Street would like very much to consider himself a “pro-Israel advocate.” J Street is a new lobby in Washington made up, primarily of left wing Jews who are of supporters of “American Friends for Peace Now and, “New Israel Fund” etc.

On their web site, they dub themselves as “pro-Israel”, yet by their words and by their deeds that would stretch the definition of pro-Israel to include the most egregious critics of Israel’s existence. Take, for example, Ben-Ami’s April, 2008 statement in favor of negotiations with Hamas as noted by The New Republic’s James Kirchick. To be in favor of negotiations with an organization whose charter contains the words, “O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him,” and still be considered pro-Israel requires a degree of mental acrobatics which is difficult to fathom. Add to that J Street’s narrative of “right-wing” Jewish organizations, “who, through fear and intimidation, have cut off reasonable debate on the topic [of Middle East policy].”

If claims of a “Rightist” Jewish cabal who dominate policy discussions on the Middle East is a “pro-Israel” position, than Norman Finkelstein, “The Israel Lobby” authors Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer and Saudi spokesman Chas Freeman all need to be added to the list of pro-Israel advocates too.

Or, consider for a moment, J Street’s victorious crowing after successfully exorcised Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin from the list of speakers at a rally in opposition to Iran madman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a man who had personally called for the elimination of the state of Israel. If an organization is truly “pro-Israel” wouldn’t it welcome vocal opposition to such monstrous statements from politicians from all sides of the spectrum, both right and left?

Perhaps most egregious is J Street’s endorsement of blatant moral equivalency during the most recent round of fighting between Hamas and Israel which forced Rabbi Eric Yoffie of the Union of Reform Judaism (no Likudnik by any stretch of the imagination) to denounce them,

“[J Street] could find no moral difference between the actions of Hamas and other Palestinian militants, who have launched more than 5,000 rockets and mortar shells at Israeli civilians in the past three years, and the long-delayed response of Israel, which finally lost patience and responded to the pleas of its battered citizens in the south… These words are deeply distressing because they are morally deficient, profoundly out of touch with Jewish sentiment and also appallingly naïve.”

J Street argues, correctly, that there are left-wing Israeli “post-Zionists” and organizations, but they can hardly be considered representative of the majority opinion of the “Israeli” Street, as the most recent Knesset elections show, where right wing parties definitely swept the slate. And as Rabbi Yoffie’s article in the Forward pointed out, even among the left in Israel, support for Operation Cast Lead was high, the need for it, obvious.

Indeed as far as I can ascertain there is no issue on which J Street has supported Israeli policy. Not on the threat from Iran, where it lobbied against tighter U.S sanctions under the ludicrous assertion that it would constitute “a naval blockade”, not on the threat from Hamas, or on the Anti-Semitic character of Durban II (It applauded the Obama Administration’s initial announcement that it would send representatives to the Durban II preparatory meetings).

Now it is fair to argue that one can be supportive of a country, while questioning the wisdom of some of its policies, but when looking at the totality of J Street’s positions, it’s clear that they would have us believe that to be a friend to Israel means to stand on the edge of a precipice with that friend, and urge him to jump.

As I had brought out during the discussion, Israel is a healthy democracy, like the United States, and all healthy democracies welcome debate and dissent. However, in order to be considered a part of the pro-Israel fold, there is a boundary beyond which one should definitely not be allowed to cross.

In Washington, pro-Israel advocates are confronted with the huge and well funded Saudi lobby. as well as with the new, highly funded Iranian lobby, NIAC, (National Iranian-American Council). They certainly do enough damage. It is certainly interesting that J Street finds itself on the same side of the issues as these avowedly anti-Israel lobbies. When Israel is under attack and members of the IDF are putting their lives on the line, to defend the Jewish state, one should not be allowed to parading the halls of Congress for a premature ceasefire, and still consider oneself pro-Israel. That would be akin to the classic story of a child killing his parents, and appealing to the judge for leniency because he is an orphan.

Despite the fact that EMET is only two years old, we have managed to accomplish much more in our short existence than many older and much wealthier organizations who have been around for decades.

When outlining our main accomplishments over the past year and a half, we will lump them into a few broad categories:

• Serving as a resource to members of congress, their staffers, administration officials, other policy makers, and the press
• Public education and outreach to the foreign policy community , as well as to the community at large
• Dissemination of current information and white papers on Capitol Hill and to the media
• Speaking at various seminars, and on the radio, being sought out for an opinion by columnists
