A Press Conference was presented by EMPact America in NYC (Sept 23, 2011) by an organization for citizens concerned about protecting the American people from a nuclear or natural electromagnetic (EMP) catastrophe.
Our vulnerability increases daily. Are we prepared for the single greatest threat to America’s infrastructure? From EMP’s?
That’s why we NEED the SHIELD ACT.
The SHIELD Act
(Secure High-Voltage Infrastructure for Electricity from Lethal Damage Act)
WHY WE NEED IT
Contemporary U.S.Society is not structured, nor have the means, to provide for the needs of nearly 300 mil Americans without electricity
Current strategy for recovery from an electric grid failure leaves us ill-prepared to respond to a man-made or naturally occurring EMP.
Consequences of the loss of electrical power system for substantial period of time likely to be catastrophe with casualties in excess of 60% of population
Occurrence of severe geo-magnetic storms inevitable. Only a matter of WHEN.
WHAT IT DOES
Encourages co-operation between government and industry to address current shortcomings & vulnerabilities of electric grid from major EMP event
Passed by House; stalled in Senate, due to additions regarding cyber-security threats (SHIELD Act omits that language,to be address in a separate bill)
EMP ( Electro-magnetic pulse) is a high-intensity burst of electro-magnetic energy. It can be caused by a natural event ( like a solar storm) or a malicious act (such as a high-altitude nuclear burst)
Consequences of either event could be long-lasting and continent-wide, crippling the U.S. electricity- dependent infra-structures. They are highly vulnerable and largely unprotected. Paralyzed, perhaps, beyond recovery.
The infrastuctures include: power, communications, transportation, banking, finance, food & water; all that is required to sustain a modern civilization
Terrorists acquiring nuclear materials, rogue nations such as Iran and NoKo, could achieve an EMP effect by launching a low-cost short-range missile from a freighter just 12 miles off the US coast. There is no early-warning system that would provide enough time to react.
Deterrence is no-longer an option when we face a determined adversary, with no state-affiliation, who can can achieve an EMP attack capability without having a high-level of sophistication. All they require is one or two relatively unsophisticated missiles armed with nuclear weapons.
Our pervasive use of and dependence up on electronics continues to grow, leaving our society and military vulnerable and open to critical damage. It invites and rewards an attack. That’s why we MUST:

And WHO are these loveable Grannies- of-the-Left who OCCUPIED Toys-R-US on December 16th?
On October 1, 2011 the militant Grannies marched to Brooklyn Bridge with #OWS. They love to get arrested so a few of them were surely amongst the 700 taken to jail for obstruction.
On October 13, 2011 (just before the aborted hosing-down of Zuccotti) the ‘Grannies’ were seen scrubbing the filth left by the OWS squatters and defending the anarchists ‘rights’ to squat.
Not Zuccotti Park as it was intended….pictured below (thanks to Urban Infidel for the update – Dec 26, 2011)
On October 15, 2011, the Gray-Haired Grannies joined the Castro-loving Code Pinkos and #OWS chums in Times Square where Grannie, Jenny Heinz, walked around screaming “YOU are the 99 %”
Flash- Forward to December 16, 2011, back to Times Square, Toys-R-Us and the Protest Grannies had come-a-caroling…
These “ladies” never met a leftist/marxist/progressive/socialist event they couldn’t support. TIME-WARP GRANNIES.
…..serenading the shoppers with rude, propaganda “Christmas” Carols
The GRANNIES walked around TOYS-R-US with their War Banners singing twisted WAR-TOY carols until they were escorted OUT by TOYS-R-US security (and continued the assault outside)
Poor guy from the Salvation Army, they planted themselves beside him and even put money in his bucket
But, he finally moved away from the ‘peaceful grannies’ since their lyrics were inappropriate, having NOTHING to do with Christmas….
The Marxists Gray-haired Grannies. Anti-Christmas. (Anti-Israel.) Anti-America.
VIDEO
Whether RAGING Grannies are marching in the #OWS REVOLUTION or singing twisted Christmas Carols (during a Christian Holy Season) they also support terrorists and despots (like Castro and Chavez) and anything Islam. But, America? She is BAD, very bad cause… ‘We Buy WAR TOYS! ‘
”The actual Christmas message of “Peace” and “Goodwill towards men” seems to threaten their very existence as they RAGE AGAINST WAR-TOYS”
It’s been insanely busy these past few months. Only just realized I never posted Part 2 of the infamous N17 Re-Occupy Protest of #OWS. So before 2012 comes roaring in….
RE CAP: It began at 7 AM. Billed as #OWS ‘International Day of Action’ to crush NY Stock Exchange.
Even though the squatters had been evicted from Zuccotti Park, the scruffier, younger contingent of the headed to Wall Street itching for a fight. They did everything they could to make life miserable for the 99% who live and work in the Wall Street area, but the police did a stellar job and the bell was rung in the Stock Exchange! Defeated, the insurgents went back to Zuccotti: Strike One.
LUNCH was MIC CHECK as they explained their strategic Subway locations. The plan was to Shut Down” the Subways ( also, to get the PEOPLE to join them at Foley Sq.) Strike Two!
Moving right along to PART 2 of my post and the VIDEOS of the Evening of N17. (pics are screen grabs from video-cam night setting)
At 5 PM I observed union members, lots of union members, arriving at City Hall where they headed over to Foley Sq. This was billed a one Giant BLOCK Party.
I have a 5 short videos of the “Block Party” at Foley. (Play List includes video from Subway action earlier in the day for a total of 6 vids)
BTW- Still trying out this idea (the play list) wish player fit blog screen better. You can click thru to You Tube if screen is obstructed.
VIDEO PLAY LIST:
I seriously question the claim that they pulled in 30,000 people to Foley Sq. Walking with-in the park, behind the lines of people crammed against the railing, reveals wide open spaces. The park was not jammed. sections were quite empty
The “stage” at the South end of the Square is where many attendees were jammed, listening to the faux gospel and rap music.
The SEIU table was there with their usual astro-turf signs
The North end of the park was the younger crowd. Students and no, perhaps their professors? Probably.
They even had their own marching band with the drums, drums, drums and the clergy:
Thought the Mic Check gospel song to be pretty funny followed by the rap! Taking the city back “block by block, by block” and the demands from the rappers for the police to Stand Down.
Amazing. (Arrogant)
No matter what the sycophant media implies, this was an in-your-face UNION protest, not an occupation. The Re-Create Block Party in Foley Sq: Strike Three
Left before they marched on to Brooklyn Bridge. Had enough Union mania. But, whether it’s unions or OWS, come Spring they have BIG PLANS to take this city and our country down. It ain’t over….
D17: #OWS plans to OCCUPY (again and again) Saturday, December 17, 2011
The #OWS Mobsters said this was their THREE MONTH ANNIVERSARY of Occupy Wall St. They also celebrated the birthday of (TRAITOR) Bradley Manning (thanks to Urban Infidel for the picture)
And insinuated it was the “One Year” anniversary (actually January 4, 2012) of the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi - the act that sparked the questionable “Arab Spring”.
It was a day so glorified (in their own minds) that they ultimately called it “a Day of Faith and Re-Occupation”. More from the OWS Press Release (www.occupywallst.org )
Vast resources sit unused while people are in need: in need of homes, schools, jobs and public places to gather and empower communities. Duarte Square is one of New York City’s many uninhabited spaces. The non-residential lot is owned by the third largest real estate owner in Manhattan, Trinity Real Estate, the corporate arm of Trinity on Wall Street. This vacant lot has sat empty for the past 3 years, and is not slated for development for at least another year; similar to the hundreds of bank-owned, foreclosed homes in East New York, one of which was re-occupied by a displaced family on December 6th, the OWS National Day to Occupy Foreclosed Homes, with home re-occupations in over 30 U.S. cities.
While the event may include a reoccupation the event itself is a broader celebration and expansion of Occupy Wall Street as we continue to draw attention to the issues facing the 99%, occupy the nation’s imagination with art and culture, as well exercise our first amendment rights. Through on-site performances and a special radio broadcast on WBAI, we will introduce the people’s amp, a guerrilla sound system to give voice to the people’s movement.
Occupy Wall Street is part of an international people powered movement fighting for economic justice in the face of neoliberal economic practices, the crimes of Wall Street, and a government controlled by monied interests. #OWS is the 99% organizing to end the tyranny of the 1%.
They began the festivities at 10:00 AM with Clergy and Friends gathered together for prayer at OCCUPY FAITH
After prayers, they headed for Duarte Square, where at Noon, the clergy ‘proudly’ lead the insurgency against the police.
Plan A to re-occupying an empty lot owned by the Leftist loving Episcopal Church-USA
Plan B to set up a NEW encampment.
BUT apparently the historical Trinity Episcopal lost its nerve After encouraging the occupation of Zuccotti Park:
The CHURCH said NO to an occupation of their own property! (NIMBY)
Bryan Smith for News
The “CHILDREN”, so enraged by this rejection, threw one huge temper-tantrum of a party at the Re-occupation of this empty lot. It was ultimately one big FAIL.

About 55 anarchists chose arrest and the others eventually dispersed (or so it seemed) Unfortunately, the insurgents surprised the NYPD by ‘spontaneously’ marching up 7th Avenue.
Day marched into night as I caught up with them at 36th Street. They were walking IN the traffic…. up 7th Ave….Their new destination: Times Square.
VIDEO PART 1: Marching Up 7th Avenue
Military Island (in front of the Recruitment Center)
Mic Checks and Temperature Checks ( & wiggle fingers)
Anti-Israel (Fakestinian) agitators
Anti-Capitalists preaching “Spread the Wealth”
And Castro-loving NYC Councilman, Ydanis Rodriguez , who supports open borders and unfettered illegal migration
Next they left Military island and marched two blocks to Duffy Sq
VIDEO- Part 2- March to Duffy Sq
Intending to OCCUPY the red steps for a G.A. (the PEOPLES General Assembly).
The police were ready and waiting for them at Duffy Square.
As soon as the ‘Occupiers” hit the square there was dancing, chanting, singing and drum(s)
They also ‘entertained’ the tourists with silly testimonials of “WHY I OCCUPY” (caught a few of those in the videos)
This obnoxious woman (below) stood in front of the officers, who blocked the red steps, and obsequiously repeated over and over, “Why won’t you let us sit on the steps? Why won’t you answer me?” When another woman responded with, “We all know why, cause you’ll never leave!” She smirked and walked away.
As the Occupiers prepared to drift back down town, noticed this floppy, snarky sign:”NYPD, most dangerous Gang in NY”.
Insurgents. Revolutionaries. Anarchists insisting, “We are a ‘Peaceful” Movement” ( yeah…right…)
Eventually the Occupiers went back to 60 Wall Street for a General (Peoples) Assembly. They have lots and lots of plans
Next up, December 24-25, 2011:
OCCUPY CHRISTMAS AT ZUCCOTTI (like Brookfield would say ‘yes’).
Their plans were announced in the Village Voice here>>
We will host a 24-hour prayer vigil in Zuccotti Park (or Liberty Square, as we prefer to call it) that will open with a midnight service on Christmas Eve, and continue throughout the day, closing with a ceremony at midnight on Christmas Day. We invite congregations and leaders from faiths and Churches throughout the city to design the way in which they would like to come together with the Occupy community, by creating a service that reflects the unique beauty of their own community
And more info of future Occupations:
In Washington, DC, Benjamin Chavis, another icon of the Sixties’ Civil Rights movement, announced the creation of Occupy The Dream, which is demanding federal grants for university education, an immediate halt to home foreclosures and the creation of a $100 billion fund from Wall Street institutions for new jobs and investment in neighborhoods.
Chavis is no stranger to organizing. A colleague of King’s, he organized a one-million person march on Washington in the 1960s with a coalition of African Americans, progressive white liberal groups, and organized labor. ‘That is what we have to rebuild,’ he announced.
On January 16, Martin Luther King’s birthday, Occupy the Dream plans its first actions at Federal Reserve Bank locations around America and thereafter every 30 days, and Chavis’ has special plans to marshall the gigantic African-American faith community.
The work has already begun with The Occupy Homes National Day of Action last week, where in more than two dozen cities across America, the occupiers helped evicted residents reoccupy their foreclosed homes, disrupted bank actions and blocked eviction of victims of toxic mortgages and unconscionable mortgage ‘insurance.’
Come Spring, their DRUMS of War will drone on and on and on insisting, “We’re doing this for YOU.”
AFSI’S ANTI-DEMOLITION DEMONSTRATION was held in front of the Israel Consulate on a chilly Sunday morning, December 11, 2011.
The protestors gathered to support and speak of their love of Israel.
AFSI explains why:
The protest was triggered by the recent destruction of the synagogue at Givat Aryeh, and the confiscation of the Torah scrolls. We also protested additional planned demolitions about which we have been informed: in Givat HaUlpana in Bet-El, Givat Assaf, Amona, and additional demolitions of homes in Migron. The AFSI Chizuk group saw three demolished homes there on our recent November visit.
The uplifting story of the creation of Givat Aryeh by a group of young, Jewish pioneers, led by YEDAYA SHOHAM, in response to the brutal butchery of five members of the Fogel family in Itamar, descends into a tragic tale of demolition and disgrace. AFSI was privileged to be part of the joyous creation of the synagogue, and the dedication, on Nov. 15, 2011, of a Torah scroll rescued from the Holocaust.
On Dec. 1 we learned of the Israeli government’s betrayal of its purpose and its people when it sent in a Destructo squad, including Arabs, to demolish the modest tent homes and the synagogue on the hilltop.
From Helen Freedman, Executive Director of AFSI:
It is with a sense of disbelief and shock that we continue to hear about the program being conducted by the Bibi/Barack demolition crews in Israel. In the middle of the night, Destructo crews are sent in to small, hilltop communities, the inhabitants are thrown out of their beds, out of their homes, and into the cold night. Total disregard is paid to babies, nursing mothers, children, the elderly, and adults. Synagogues have been destroyed, private possessions thrown broken and littered along the ground, and lives are left in limbo.
Just two weeks ago, we celebrated the dedication of a new Torah scroll that was presented to the residents of Itamar and Givat Aryeh in the Shomron by its sponsor, AFSI member Jack Ross. Now we are totally disheartened to learn that the destruction of this community was orchestrated by a decision of the Netanyahu/Barak government.
Teenagers who should be enjoying the carefree years of youth, are left embittered and bewildered by the scenes of the IDF, the police, and Arabs, destroying their homes. The love and trust placed in one’s parents and government is shattered. Where does one turn for security and protection? The disillusionment and despair is devastating.
Freedman informed us that:
“I had invited many rabbis and mainstream Jewish leaders to attend this demonstration. Many refused; saying that they didn’t believe in criticizing Israel in public. I responded by saying, “If your beloved is about to walk off a cliff, wouldn’t you reach out to restrain him?”
Protesting AGAINST Israel was something none present took lightly but the current policy of destruction and demolitions must stop. We must not remain silent witnesses to this disgrace.
THE VIDEOS are each uniquely powerful statements. I’m posting all 14 in a Playlist on You Tube. The video playing will go automatically to the next video OR you can click thru to YOU TUBE to see the whole page. There were FOURTEEN (14) short videos of all the speakers.
(I’ll post each video individually if feedback is negative on the playlist)
Helen Freedman ( Exec. Dir. AFSI), Pastor James David Manning of the ATLAH World Missionary Church
Radio Personality and long-time Jewish activist, Charlie Bernhaut and Raanan Isseroff, a representative of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement
AFSI members Bob Unger and Jack Ross (who had recently dedicated the Torah Scroll that was confiscated). David Jacobs now lives in Israel with his family and spoke of the anguish he felt seeing the synagogue destroyed (in Gush Katif) where his daughter held her Bat-Mitzvah.
Brooklyn resident Robin Ticker, Manhigut Yehudit spokesman Rob Muchnick and veteran AFSI volunteer Charlotte Wahle.
There are two fine reports on the protest; one from Fern Sidmanand, also, Raanan Isseroff, from whom I chose some parting thoughts:
In keeping with the theme of Chanukah, speakers pointed out the hard fight that the Maccabees had against the “political Jews” of that time. Jews who put their faith in the Greek nation first. Much like today, where Jews around the world look to the nations of the world for the very survival of Israel. Nations who historically caused the Holocaust. Yet from them, they seek salvation. And like the political Jews of days of old, this faith in the nations was to such an extent, that it was not beyond them to put Jews in danger and even joined the Greek legions in fighting against those heroes, the Maccabee’s.
While this seems romantic looking back, we are each left with the question of whose side are we really on today?
Have we unwittingly aligned ourselves with the “Political Jews”, those Greek Jews of the Chanukah story against the very hero’s we so revere?
Today, the situation is so similar. It will only be with those people who are the “small jar of pure oil”. Those who feel the sacred mission of the Holy Land and its Jewish place in the destiny of the world, that Israel will again please G-d, regain its senses and begin to once again put the safety and necessity of Israel’s Jews first.
More from AFSI: Who they are and suggestions on what YOU can do to help.
AMERICANS FOR A SAFE ISRAEL/AFSI has been in the forefront protesting against the inhumane, pointless, self-abasing destruction of Jewish synagogues and homes in the Shomron by the Israeli government. Our message has continuously been that destroying the lives and livelihood of Jews who are adhering to the biblical injunction to inherit the land and to settle in it, is a violation of all the trust and purpose inherent in the creation of the State of Israel. We plead with PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak, as well as the Israeli Supreme Court justices, to end this disastrous program immediately.
AFSI has been reporting on the Israeli Destructo squads continue their dirty work undeterred by logic and common sense. Wouldn’t it seem natural to suspend all demolition orders while Israel’s citizens are under rocket attack from Gaza, and the threat of rocket attack from the north? These matters seem to be unrelated. The demolitions continue regardless of the fact that they ignore the realities on the ground.
Arutz Sheva (www.israelnationalnews.com) reports on the destruction of homes in Mitzpe Yitzhar. The heartbreaking photos of this useless, unwarranted, self-abasing, cruel and inhumane action are here>>. Other communities are also threatened. Yesha Council Chairman Danny Dayan sent a letter to all of the ministers and MKs, noting that 150 homes, housing 1,000 Israelis who have lived in their homes for over ten years, are scheduled for destruction in the near future: Givat Assaf, Ramat Gilad, Migron, the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El, and Amona are all on the list.
Emails should be sent protesting against this despicable program.

Abdur-Rashid filled the air with cries of Racism. Envy.
Greed and Fraud.
WHAT COUNTRY TO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY LIVE IN?
(Cuba? Saudi Arabia?)
They have a bizarre dream …
Posting their propaganda announcements here along with the pictures and video I took, seemed the best way to illuminate their HYPOCRISY
10 December 2011– On this day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which has become a universal standard for defending and promoting human rights. Every year on 10 December, Human Rights Day marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration. It is celebrated around the globe that “All human beings are born with equal and inalienable rights and fundamental freedoms”.
This year thousands of people decided the time had come to claim their rights. They took to the streets and demanded change. Many found their voices using the internet and instant messaging to inform, inspire and mobilise supporters to seek their basic human rights.
Social media helped activists organise peaceful protest movements in cities across the globe—in Tunis, in Cairo, in Madrid, in New York, and in cities and towns across the globe—at times in the face of violent repression.
It has been a year like no other for human rights. Human rights activism has never been more topical or more vital. And through the transforming power of social media, ordinary people have become human rights activists.
Human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideals and values. As a global community we all share a day in common: Human Rights Day on 10 December, when we remember the creation 63 years ago of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .
On Human Rights Day 2011 we pay tribute to all human rights defenders and ask you to get involved in the global human rights movement.

Imagine if everyone in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx suddenly lost the right to vote. That’s about the number of people — 5 million and counting — affected by changes already adopted or currently pending in state legislatures around the country. When all is said and done, millions more could lose the right to vote.
On Saturday, December 10 — Human Rights Day — more than 100 civil, labor, and human rights organizations from across the country — including the New York Civil Liberties Unionand the ACLU — will take a “Stand for Freedom” in New York City to protest the attack on voting rights. The march and rally will begin at the Manhattan headquarters of leading voter suppression funders, the Koch brothers, and will conclude outside the United Nations.
This year, legislatures in 34 states were pressed to pass laws that would undermine voting rights. Fourteen states have passed such laws. Early voting, Sunday voting and same-day registration are under attack. Unfair restrictions on the formerly incarcerated will strike tens of thousands from the voting rolls. Photo ID requirements represent the greatest barrier to voting since the poll tax.
More than a century ago, extremists attacked voting rights to help establish segregation. Now they’re attempting to suppress voter turnout among groups that typically cast ballots in favor of social justice and civil rights. This tightly coordinated effort targets the voting rights of the elderly, the poor, students and people of color.
Myths about widespread voter fraud are used to justify barriers to voting, but study after study has shown that voter fraud is extremely rare. The limited fraud that occurs typically involves absentee ballots, which photo ID requirement do not address. It is important to protect the integrity of the election process, but not at the cost of disenfranchising eligible voters.
(The infamous NY City Councilman, Charles Barron)
Saturday’s march will assemble at 10 a.m. at 61st Street and Madison Avenue, near the Koch brothers Manhattan offices. Starting at 11 a.m., we will march to Dag Hammarskjold Plaza (47th Street and 2nd Avenue) for a noon rally.
Come march with ACLU Executive Director, Anthony Romero. The right to vote is at the heart of our democracy. Help us protect it.
Union 150+ Rights Groups Rally To Protect Minority Voting Rights on Dec. 10, UN Human Rights Day
Several thousand protesters are expected to attend the Stand for Freedom March and Rally in New York City on Saturday, December 10, the United Nations Human Rights Day. The Rally will be led by a coalition of over 150 civil rights and community organizations in response to the recent national sweep of proposed voter identification laws that are likely to disenfranchise votersof color.
MinKwon Center excerpt from mission statement, “Our goals are to educate community members about issues that are impacting immigrant communities, including the Korean American community; to increase Korean American civic participation and to promote immigrant rights through long-term organizing, advocacy and education programs; to serve the marginalized members of our community through various social service programs; and to preserve our cultural roots by involving members of our community in projects that promote our ethnic and cultural heritage.”
“After monitoring elections for over two decades, we have seen how Asian Americans are disenfranchised by voter identification laws, anti-Asian bias at poll sites, and poor enforcement of the Voting Rights Act’s language assistance provisions,” said Margaret Fung, Executive Director of the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF). “At a time when Asian Americans are more politically engaged than ever, we need to ensure that all Americans, especially new citizens, are able to exercise their fundamental right to vote.”
Fung will join NAACP President Ben Jealous, 1199SEIU President George Gresham, NAACP LDF President John Payton, American Civil Liberties Union Executive Director Anthony Romero, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Executive Director Barbara Arnwine, and other civil rights leaders in a press conference before the march and rally on Saturday at 10:30am.
The march will begin at 61st Street and Madison Avenue at the NYC headquarters of Koch Industries and culminate in a rally across from the United Nations. Busloads of protestors from Maryland, Rochester, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Virginia, Connecticut, Buffalo, and several other places are expected to join.
“We hope New Yorkers will join us in standing up for freedom on Dec. 10,” said Fung. “If these proposals are not defeated, Asian Americans and other communities of color will face new discriminatory obstacles to voting.”

Remembering, this is UN Human Rights Day all they could they complain about was the ‘human rights abuses’ the NY City Council.
Sen Chuck Schumer ( D-NY) started out praising himself because he rode his bike to the Rally. Then he trashed our Voter Laws and said how important it is to keep our VOTES CLEAN and HONEST.
“No to DISENFRANCHISEMENT” “Our Military FOUGHT for the Right To Vote” (But, it was the Dems who made sure our men and women in uniform COULDN’T VOTE!)
ACORN, EX-Felons and our very own REP from the Islamic Leadership Council of NY (and the Muslim Brotherhood.)
The Imam (starting at approx 4: 38) Imam Al-Hajj Talib Abdur-Rashid of the Islamic Leadership Council of NY trashed our American Voting Laws while he praised our “membership” as citizens of One World, One People….
The Imam gave praise to himself and his faith (not his Country… AMERICA) Did any in that crowd see thru his lies. Or, MAYBE those are the folks who stayed away in DROVES….There were lots of UNUSED signs…
More than 100 civil, labor, and human rights organizations from across the country — including the New York Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU — insisting they “Stand for Freedom” and protesting what they CLAIM to be an attack on MINORITY voting rights.

Restrictive voting laws on rise across country
by Michael Hirsch | published November 24, 2011
In 2011, legislators in seven states — Alabama, Kansas, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin — rewrote voting laws to require voters to present state-issued photo identification, while a voter-ID ballot question passed in Mississippi on Nov. 8.
Florida and Ohio cut nearly in half the number of days for early voting and eliminated Sunday voting. Florida also will impose penalties for minor infractions on third-party voter-registration drives, prompting the “nonpartisan” League of Women Voters to cease voter registration in the state.
The Maine Legislature eliminated same-day voter registration — until voters overwhelmingly rejected the law in a referendum on Nov. 8.
In all, Republican lawmakers in 23 states have passed, tried to pass or are attempting to pass laws toughening voter registration and voting requirements [see map, below] in what critics call the most concerted effort to roll back voting rights in decades. (?)
Critics from the NAACP to the AFT call it voter suppression: a blatant effort by states run by Republicans to tamp down on voting by low-income and minority voters in next year’s presidential election.
“States where restrictive laws have already passed represent 63 percent of the electoral votes needed to win the presidency,” says the Advancement Project, which tracks election laws.
The “right-wing” billionaire Koch brothers are big proponents of these new laws. The American Legislative Exchange Council, funded heavily by them, prepares model voter-suppression legislation.
(hmmm….ANY WORD ON THE SOROS FUNDED PROJECT VOTE THAT ENCOURAGED EVERYONE TO VOTE TWICE in 2010??)
Critics call the new laws a modern-day version of the Jim Crow-era poll taxes and literacy tests — which are no longer limited to the South or African Americans.

“There is once again a quiet but systematic movement that would deny many African Americans and other American citizens the ability to vote with 21st century versions of old exclusionary practices,” said Marian Wright Edelman, the president of the Children’s Defense Fund, in an article in the Huffington Post.
“The generations ahead of us had to face Jim Crow,” said the Rev. Al Sharpton at the Nov. 8 press conference to launch the “Stand for Freedom” campaign. “We face his son, James Crow Jr., Esq.”
The Republican supporters of these laws say they prevent widespread voter fraud.
The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law, however, found incidents of individuals falsely claiming to be voters accounted for less than one-thousandth of 1 percent of all votes cast. Adds the American Civil Liberties Union: “Multiple studies have found that almost all cases of in-person voter ‘fraud’ are the result of a voter making an honest mistake.”
Studies show that laws requiring voters to present official photo IDs, such as a driver’s license or a passport, have a disproportionate impact on poor, minority and young voters. The Brennan Center found that 11 percent of citizens, or 21 million people, don’t have a current photo ID — including 15 percent of low-income eligible voters, 18 percent of young eligible voters and 25 percent of black eligible voters.
Critics say the restrictions on Sunday voting target African Americans who vote after church. In the 2008 presidential election, a majority of those who cast early votes did so for President Barack Obama.
Election law changes in states with a history of discriminatory voting practices must get approval from the U.S. Department of Justice to ensure they do not violate the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The new voter-ID laws in Texas and South Carolina are being reviewed by the Justice Department. Mississippi will have to submit its plan for review as well.
The stakes in this battle are high. As he signed the 1965 Voting Rights Act in the company of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and other civil rights leaders, President Lyndon Johnson said, “This right to vote is the basic right without which all others are meaningless.”
CHALLENGE the Marxist/Leftist Assault on our Freedoms.
December 2, 2011. The #OWS crowd looking for something ‘creative’ to do ….now that they are ‘ homeless’…..
Their petition:
VIDEO Part 1 The FUN and Games were lead by Marxist/Socialist/Anarchist Brigades. They met up at Duffy Sq. 6 PM . They entertained with “Mic Check” and Occupation”prior to their march up Broadway to an undisclosed Public/Private aka POP space.
This was to be ANOTHER occupation (yawn) there was certainly lots of smug congratulations (for breathing, I guess) and lots of F-bombs.
Part 2. VIDEO They were now ready to move to their secret POP space. Music, and Mockery. Fake Ministers. Stilt walkers. Clowns. French Revolution beggars and tattered (desecrated) American Flags. The Rude Mechanical Orchestra entertained and The fake “Rev Billy” Pied Pipered them up town with “YOU are the 99 %”, Rev-O-Lu-Jah. They tried to get the public to “Join the March” insisting it was a “Great Night for a Revolution” and FUn FUn FUn
Part 3 VIDEO The Carnie-Side Show continued in the Paramount Plaza POP space at 51st & Broadway. And # OWS had big plans. TO OCCUPY. They tore down the yellow police tape that was meant to keep them out of an area that was decorated with large Pumpkins. The police were patient. Once the ‘parade’ was in the plaza a truck with the metal barricades arrived. The #OWS organizers seemed disappointed. Their “stage” ( you’ll see it was chalk marks) was now contained by barricades. Smoothly handled by the police. 3 or 4 fellows in whiote smocks planned on PAINTING in another area. After laying down their white tarps, the police quickly stopped them. Heard a woman with baby on her back, an #OWS leader, tell the ‘painter’ guys they should only listen to the owners of the building (not the police) Didn’t happen. They packed up. Lots of singing. Silly lyrics. Union-style. And like children the crowd giggles and sings a long. Sounding more like Dead-Heads with every mic-check.
That sweet, young teacher’s aide from Albany, New York is one KAYLEE DEDRICK, who gained notoriety when she was pepper-sprayed by a MEAN NYC cop. But, Kaylee’s NOT your average teacher’s-aide. Oh, no,no,no….
About a 1/2 hour before the ‘incident’ on September 24, 2011, Kaylee was MARCHING NUDE in lower Manhattan. Hello, KAYLEE! Do your students know what you are UP to? (Jamie NYC took these pics of Day 8 protest)
It’s obvious that Kaylee and her friends were not innocent by-standers, they were participants; encouraging havoc on the streets near Union Square.
So why does the MSM avoid “exposing” these rude and crude anarchists. It’s not difficult to surf the blogosphere to find a much more detailed profile on this ‘victim’ of police brutality. Found this particular info here >>
Kaylee Dedrick, lesbian OWS protester, turns straight after treat for pepper spray
Updated: 27 Oct 2011
Romance: Robert Grodt and Kaylee Dedrick started a romance after he treated her when she was pepper-sprayed by police at a march in New York
Attacked: Miss Dedrick was filmed screaming in agony after being pepper-sprayed by police
An Occupy Wall Street protester who was pepper-sprayed by police has started a romance with the demonstrator who helped treat her. Robert Grodt, 24, a volunteer medic, rushed to help Kaylee Dedrick, 24… temporarily blinded by the spray on September 24… Miss Dedrick…calls herself gay on social networking sites… found romance with the male fellow protester. SNIP
Miss Dedrick, a teacher’s aide from Albany, was marching close to Union Square when she was surrounded by police and sprayed by a NYPD Deputy Inspector
The now notorious video of the incident, which has been viewed 1.5 million times online, shows police rounding up Miss Dedrick and fellow protesters in orange netting, before the officer approaches and sprays them in the face. SNIP
‘They were screaming,’ (aka egging on the RIOTERS)…. They say that they would not have got together if it was not for the incident. SNIP
Mr Grodt has also been pictured at the protests lying on a bed with a different woman. SOURCE: dailymail.co.uk
AND remember, KAYLEE was PROTESTING NUDE at Zuccotti the morning of Sept 24th. WARNING NUDITY ( if you haven’t noticed already)
FROM THE VIDEO:
September 24, 2011 —- the day of the pepper-spray incident is also the day Kaylee was teaching her students the fine points of NUDE protesting (at 9:57 AM, to be precise) and smug disobedience. She even has the same skirt on later (and tank top) but you can still admire her lovely tattoos.
(WARNING: NUDITY as Kaylee is interviewed NUDE at Zuccotti)
Miss Dedrick, who is self-identified on Facebook and Twitter as ‘Kay the Gay’ and ‘Kay the Queer’ says she was laid-off as a teachers-aide.
Those social networks have been killing a number of educational careers lately, applying for that NEXT teachers-aide position, with the above video as a character reference, perhaps Kaylee should look forward to more time on-the-streets with her #OWS chums, not so sure her future is in education.
Kaylee also planned to SUE the NYPD, a long-shot (of course) but good for a few more minutes of fame.
“In the case of Kaylee Dedrick, the NYPD said the use of force was justified given the protest and because pepper-spraying obviated the need to use batons. Batons can lead to permanent injuries while pepper-spraying normally only causes temporary impairment. For these reasons, the Occupy Wall Street assault charges will likely not be brought”
But as far as the OCCUPATION, I’m sure they feel KAYLEE DEDRICK is the Cat’s Meow.
AND yes, Tracy Postert (maiden name Blevins)…age 41… Medical Marijuana Barbie aka Dr. Tracy Blevins…. she gets more ‘interesting’ with each new discovery.
“The irrepressible MMB, complete with diamond studded tiara, entertained a crowd of thousands as she stripped to loud cheers and applause, revealing a hand-painted marijuana leaf where a fig leaf should be and the slogan ‘Medical Marijuana’ inscribed on her bum.”
That got attention alright, but from the photos accompanying the press release, it’s easy to see why the audience was cheering, and it had nothing do with marijuana.
Medical Marijuana Barbie is a character created by Tracy Blevins, comptroller for New York’s Medical Marijuana Party, and is the star attraction of Blevins’ one-woman “Medical Marijuana Traveling Circus Sideshow,” designed to garner support for the legalization of medical pot.
Besides her breasts, the best thing Blevins has going for her cause is a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Texas Houston Medical School. “I get ‘em with the Barbie and keep ‘em when they hear about the Ph.D.,” she told the Palm Beach Post in November 2000.
But does she? Sure, parting with a bra and panties is going to pull some eyes. But what do the gawkers support, legalizing medpot or your bust? Will they become bosom buddies with the cause or simply your bosoms?
All of this must have left you wondering what the Good Doctor Medical Marijuana Barbie does in order to draw attention to her cause. Wonder no more:
So far the stunt that has brought Medical Marijuana Barbie the most attention was the time she climbed up on top of a bus stop in London’s Oxford Street and stripped down to her tiara, revealing a hand-painted cannabis leaf where modesty would have demanded a fig leaf, and the words Medical Marijuana inscribed across her buttocks.
Flash Forward to 2011, she’s added glasses for a more studious look….
Tracy Blevins, 41-year-old Manhattan resident, has a doctorate in biomedical science but lost her job as an adjunct professor at Touro College this spring. She’s since been getting by on odd jobs; most recently, she acted as a cross-country driver for $2,000.
“I’m earning money off a license I got when I was 16, and still paying off the loans I had to take out to get my degree,” she said.
Even after nine years of paying down her loans, Blevins said she owes $10,000. She’s current on payments now, but said the loans have crippled her credit score and even prevented her from getting work in the past.
“I have paid and paid and paid and I still owe $10,000. It’s the interest that keeps me in debt,” she said.
Her twitter page mentions she was at Zuccotti on October 7th. (I saw her on the 8th) AND she was interviewed on October 6 by Yahoo.… Tracy’s story goes thru many colors, depending on the topic and who she’s talking to….cause she claimed that October 22, when she was shilling for a job was only her tenth day there….
In Comments at NY Post article:
Googled and found this link, where she posted as “Tracy Blevins” but signed a post “Tracy Postert, PhD”, and used her Reagan sign as her avatar. She appears to be a 9/11 truther. Surprising, no? /sarc
Wonder what her new employers would think about that.
and also
” …she seriously has some strange ideas, not only advocating the legalisation of cannabis, that the Twin Towers had their steel turned to dust by some strange exotic space-energy weapon and was offering sexual favours to all the Fire Fighters. It was not a comment on having any political beliefs per se … but that someone with such a bizarre life and claims is maybe not quite as stable and the right kind of person for the job, nor the kind of person this company thought they were employing.
“I think that an electric weapon turned the WTC buildings into dust “
Video is Tracy in 2008, as Dr Babs, standing on a corner ….crashing a We Are Change Protest.
Tracy shaved a few years off for Fox Philly. com ….She’s no longer 41:
It caught the eye of Wayne Kaufman, chief market analyst for John Thomas Financial Brokerage. The exec was not looking to hire, but he took Postert’s resume anyway.
The next day, Kaufman, impressed by her CV, sent her an email asking if she would like to come for an interview two blocks from Zuccotti Park at 14 Wall St.
“I had been unemployed for so long, I thought why not?” Postert said, adding that she is in her 30s and has no background in finance or business.
And now #OWS has gotten in to the act. ” See How an Occupy Wall Street Protestor Took Gingrich’s Advice and Got a Job” Seems she has gotten and divorce, still paying off student loans and out of money They are defending her.
She’s their kind of gal: “The WTC Dust is suspicious. Beam weapons brought down the WTC; Reagan Sucks B@lls and Never, Never, Never EVER VOTE Republican!
Dr. Tracy Blevins Postert, Medical Marijuana Barbie, aka Dr. Babs:
(December 1, 2011) “March for Jobs and Economic Fairness,” called by the New York City Central Labor Council. ( Please scroll down for videos)
Very theatrical. A BIG show of UNION numbers ( “a sea of union workers” ) even though membership is is at an all-time low. Meant to instill awe and maybe…. a little fear?
The march began at 4 PM at Greeley Square (32nd St and Broadway) Caught up with their march at 4:30. At they approached Madison Square (23rd St and Broadway) and then continued on to Union “Commie” Square.
Lots and lots of eager Union members. Chanting and dancing to the drums and the bands FOR the ‘working’ man’ AND AGAINST the Government and Corporate America. (A familiar Marxist meme built into the fabric of the many unions who marched by)
One of the surprise pleasures of the day was Michael Feinberg, the rabidly pro-Union, Gaza-loving, anti-Israel Rabbi. His organization is “Greater New York Labor-Religion Coalition“. Michael has quite a temper as this picture from a previous event in Union Sq reveals (thanks to Urban Infidel)
But, today, Feinberg was having palpitations as soon as he saw me. And he kept trying to ‘hide’ from me!
It’s a parade! What’s his problem?
This silly dance even continued when we got to Union Square.
Feinberg’s Coalition Logo
“Celebrate the sacred link between faith and work. Labor-Religion Coalitions across New York coordinate presentations in congregations by union members or labor leaders, often over Labor Day weekend.”
UPDATE on Rabbi Feinberg . He attempted to get Applebaum (holding the Living Wage sign) to stop me from taking video of the band. To his credit, Applebaum looked embarrassed…
The marching band was a SEA of anti-American displays (you can enjoy them in both videos)
Back of Trombone player’s jacket:
This very MAO banner marched with them. And they LOVED Mic Check!
District Council 37- NY’s largest (of course) Public Service Employee Union
United Auto Workers and …others…
Transport Workers
The United Federation of Teachers
PSC-CUNY (Professional Staff Congress-City University of NY) and VERIZON is VERI-GREEDY Give these people JOBS and they’re STILL unhappy….
League for the Revolutionary Party (Communist Organization for the Fourth International) “dedicated to the restoration of authentic Marxism and the political independence of the working class everywhere”
So OF COURSE, there was the Socialist Table !
And the Anarchist Table…
And according to one of the #OWS Marxist loving leaders, they do NOT like this BLUE flag from a group called : newamericanregenerationparty.com
He claims they are “right-wing libertarians” Protofascists (i.e. capable of developing into fascists) Union-busting? Oh MY, perhaps this group has been CRASHING the “Party”!
Well, technically the party’s over ( cue violins) but I found the EVICTED #OWS Drummers (the ‘working group” PULSE) joyfully “drum drum drumming” at Union Square, just like they did for TWO hellish months at Zuccotti-ville (caught some of the DRUMS in Video-Part 2)
AND , found two Evicted Anonymous members from Philly (just hangin’)
And lots of police presence….
But, all was quiet (except for the DRUMS) No action. Just a BIG Show of belly-aching from the Unions.Unions. Unions. “Down with Capitalism” What a bunch of INGRATES.
Part 1 VIDEO – THE MARCH (correction the sign is not monopolize) it’s “Organize, Mobilize then OCCUPY”! Either way, if it quacks like a duck…it’s still a DUCK.
Part 2 JUST HANGIN’ AT COMMIE SQUARE -VIDEO . After their march down Broadway (Union members and Anarchists) “Just Hangin” in UNION “Commie Workers” Square. JOIN THE REVOLUTION. OCCUPY EVERYTHING!!
The FOOLISHNESS of some of these people is stunning:
As well as their arrogance. Wonder why Clinton and Teddy K. are missing from this list ( Just askin’)
THIS is what the UNIONS are supporting. REVOLUTION. A Change we could do with out
And another Anonymous member…. left us with this pithy observation….
SLIDE SHOW of all the pictures here. Much more to see :
